SpaceX Starship explosion spread particulate matter for miles.

Image
SpaceX launched the largest rocket ever built for  the first time on thursday   from its Boca Chica, Texas, spaceport. The Starship spacecraft, designed to fly people on a Mars mission someday, lifted off the launch pad then blew up in mid-flight, with no crew on board. Now, residents and researchers are scrambling to assess the impact of the explosion on local communities, their health, habitat and wildlife including endangered species. Of primary concern is the large amount of sand- and ash-like particulate matter and heavier debris kicked up by the launch. The particulate emissions spread far beyond the expected debris field. As a result of the explosion, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grounded the company's Starship Super Heavy launch program pending results of a "mishap investigation," part of standard practice, according to an email from the agency sent to CNBC after the launch. No injuries or public property damage had yet been reported to the agency a...

China to test out 3D printing technology on moon to build habitats.

Image
China  will explore using 3D printing technology to construct buildings on the moon, the official China Daily reported on Monday, as Beijing solidifies plans for long-term lunar habitation. In 2020 Chinese lunar mission, the Chang' e 5, named after the mythical Chinese goddess of the moon, an uncrewed probe took back to Earth China's first lunar soil samples. China, which made its first lunar landing in 2013, plans to land an astronaut on the moon by 2030. Between now and then, China will launch the Chang'e 6, 7 and 8 missions, with the latter tasked to look for reusable resources on the moon for long-term human habitation. The Chang'e 8 probe will conduct on-site investigations of the environment and mineral composition, and also determine whether technologies such as 3D printing can be deployed on the lunar surface, China Daily reported, quoting Wu Weiren, a scientist at the China National Space Administration.  "If we wish to stay on the moon for a long time, ...

Secrets of Area 51

Image
Area 51 is a highly secretive United States Air Force facility located in the Nevada desert. It has been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories and is rumored to be the site of top-secret government projects, including those related to extraterrestrial life. Although the U.S. government has acknowledged the existence of Area 51, it has never publicly disclosed the details of the facility's activities. One of the most well-known theories about Area 51 is that it is a site for the storage and study of crashed extraterrestrial spacecraft. This theory gained popularity in the 1980s, after a man named Bob Lazar claimed to have worked on alien technology at the site. He claimed that the government was in possession of nine flying saucers, and that he had personally worked on one of them. However, there has been no solid evidence to support this claim, and the U.S. government has consistently denied any involvement with extraterrestrial life. Another theory about Area 51 is that it...

Pakistan: Massive landslide buries trucks, kills 2 people.

Image
At least two people were killed and eight injured in a massive pre-dawn landslide that buried dozens of trucks waiting to cross from Pakistan to Afghanistan on April 18. Rescuers feared more people could be trapped dead or alive beneath the rubble, and deployed sniffer dogs at the scene as workers cautiously used heavy earth-moving equipment to shift debris. The landslide struck Torkham border post, the busiest and most important transit point for trade between the two countries, as more than 120 trucks were waiting to cross. Fires broke out following the landslide, the brunt of which struck about 120 metres (130 yards) from the main border crossing. Drivers and their assistants were cooking pre-dawn meals on gas stoves ahead of a day of fasting during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The cause of the landslide was not immediately clear, but one official said heavy machinery had been in use for months on an expansion project in the hills surrounding the border post. Torrential o...

Building Better Bones With 3D Printing

Image
3D printing has revolutionized various industries, including healthcare. One of the most significant applications of 3D printing in healthcare is the production of 3D printed bones. 3D printed bones can be used in a wide range of medical procedures, including orthopedic surgery, dental implants, and reconstructive surgery. In this article, we will discuss the advantages and applications of 3D printed bones. The Advantages of 3D Printed Bones The biggest advantage of 3D printed bones is that they can be customized to fit the patient's exact specifications. This means that the bones can be printed to match the size, shape, and density of the patient's existing bones. This is particularly useful in orthopedic surgery, where bones need to be replaced or reconstructed. Traditional bone implants are often "one-size-fits-all," which can lead to complications such as pain, inflammation, and bone loss. 3D printed bones eliminate these problems by ensuring that the implant is...

India's first 3D printed house inaugurated at IIT-Madras

Image
India's first 3D printed house marks a significant milestone in the country's housing sector. The innovative technology used in creating this house offers numerous benefits such as cost-effectiveness, energy efficiency, and speed of construction. With India's population rapidly increasing, there is an urgent need to provide affordable housing to its citizens, and 3D printing technology offers a viable solution. The 3D printed house in India was created by Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, a Bengaluru-based start-up. The project was undertaken in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, and Habitat for Humanity India. The house was built in just five days, making it one of the fastest and most efficient construction projects in India. One of the most significant advantages of 3D printing technology is its cost-effectiveness. Traditional construction methods can be expensive and require significant investments in labor and material costs. With 3D pr...

Israel strikes Lebanon and Gaza after major rocket attack.

Image
The Israeli military has carried out air strikes on targets belonging to the Palestinian militant group Hamas in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. The military said the attacks were a response to a barrage of 34 rockets fired from Lebanon into northern Israel on Thursday, which it blamed on Hamas. Militants in Gaza fired dozens more rockets after the strikes began. Tensions are high following two nights of Israeli police raids at the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem earlier this week. The raids triggered violent confrontations with Palestinians inside the mosque, which is Islam's third holiest site, and caused anger across the region. Hamas did not say that it fired the rockets from Lebanon, which was the biggest such barrage in 17 years. But its leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was visiting Beirut at the time, said Palestinians would not "sit with their arms crossed" in the face of Israeli aggression. Overnight, there were two or three explosions around the Rashidieh Palestini...

Mystry of Nazca lines

Image
The Nazca Lines are one of the most mysterious and intriguing archaeological sites in the world. Located in the desert of southern Peru, these ancient geoglyphs have puzzled researchers and historians for decades. The Nazca Lines are a series of giant figures and lines etched into the desert floor that stretch over 80 kilometers in length. These lines and figures are so large that they can only be fully seen from the air, leading to many questions about their origin, purpose, and meaning. The Nazca Lines were created by the Nazca culture, which flourished in the area between 200 BCE and 700 CE. The lines were created by removing the reddish-brown iron oxide-coated pebbles that cover the surface of the Nazca desert and revealing the lighter-colored earth underneath. The figures are made up of straight lines, curves, and shapes, and range in size from 50 to 1200 feet across. Some of the most famous figures include a spider, a hummingbird, and a monkey. The purpose of the Nazca Lines is s...
